There are many varieties of wireless modules, but the wireless transmission modules are nothing more than WiFi modules, Bluetooth

modules and Zigbee modules, NB-IOT modules, 4G modules, 5G modules, etc.

Today we mainly explain the types and functions of WIFI

WiFi is a technology that allows electronic devices to connect to a wireless local area network (WLAN), also known as the 802.11

standard, and often uses 2.4G UHF or 5G SHF ISM radio frequency bands. Uart-WiFi is an embedded module based on the Uart

interface that complies with the WiFi wireless network standard. It has a built-in wireless network protocol IEEE802.11 protocol stack

and TCP/IP protocol stack, which can realize the conversion between user serial port or TTL level data and wireless network.

The versions of WIFI protocol are:

WIFI4, WIFI5, WIFI6, WIFI7, etc. With the popularity of WIFI, the demand for functions and technical requirements have been growing,

making the WIFI protocol constantly iterating and improving.

WiFi modules can be divided into three categories:

1. General Wi-Fi module: such as USB or SDIO interface modules on mobile phones, notebooks, and tablets. The Wi-Fi protocol stack

and driver are running in the Android, Windows, and IOS systems, and a very powerful CPU is required to complete the application;

this type of WIFI module is also the most shipped in the market.

2. Router WiFi module: a typical home router, the protocol and driver are based on the Flash and Ram resources of the chip, plus the

Linux operating system.

3. Embedded WiFi module: 32-bit microcontroller, built-in WiFi driver and protocol, the interface is a general MCU interface, such as

UART, etc., suitable for various smart homes or smart hardware products. It is also divided into different types according to different

interfaces, such as serial port to WiFi, network port to WiFi, SPI to WiFi, SDIO to WiFi, USB to WiFi, etc. In recent years, with the

development of the IoT smart home market, it has been widely used in smart gateways, smart homes, smart home appliances and

other fields. The shipment volume of WiFi modules has increased significantly to build wireless home smart systems.

Application of WIFI modules:

1. General WIFI module: Now the iteration of WIFI technology has basically been completed, and the popularization of WIFI6 has been

completed. Many large manufacturers are beginning to study the application of WIFI7.

2. Router WIFI module: WIFI6 is gradually replacing the original WIFI4 and WIFI5 routers, so that the proportion of WIFI6 in routers is

gradually increasing.

3. Embedded WIFI module: WIFI4 and WIFI5 are still the most widely used in the market. With the popularization of WIFI6 routers,

embedded WIFI6 will gradually increase. At this stage, smart products such as smart homes and smart home appliances use routers as the

entrance to realize scene applications such as remote control. However, the carrying capacity of routers is limited. The carrying capacity of

home routers is about 20. However, the number of WIFI devices at home is increasing, which leads to excessive carrying capacity of routers.

Products may be disconnected or unable to connect to the network, which seriously affects the experience. Embedded WIFI6 can solve

these problems well, greatly increasing the carrying capacity of routers, lowering power consumption, and allowing for more applications.

It is conducive to increasing the market volume of WIFI smart products. With the popularization of WIFI6 routers, embedded WIFI6

modules will also usher in the spring of the market, thereby gaining market recognition and widespread popularization.
